‘Indian tapas’ is the USP at this smart modern restaurant on Argyle Street. Done out in contemporary style with red and beige colour schemes, vibrant fabrics and framed Indian artefacts, it offers a big selection of familiar and unusual specialities in ‘small plate’ form – from green chilli pakoras, butter chicken and Bombay potato to spiced haggis fritters with red onion marmalade, nawabi venison (with paprika, tomato and cinnamon), sea bass amritsari in spicy batter or marinated cod with Puy lentil salad. Full-sized versions of several dishes are also available, and there’s a good choice for veggies – check out the range of dosa pancakes. Tandooris and naans are noticeable by their absence – so fill up on parathas, bhatura or roti breads. There are plenty of set deals, as well as cut-price ‘madness’ offers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
