Venue Review of Thompson LES

In the past few years, New York’s Lower East Side has become one of the coolest parts of the city. As such, it’s a suitable setting for one of the five funky NYC properties in the Thompson Hotels chain. This 141-bedroom temple to design isn’t the place for down-to-business conferencing, but organisers can instead take advantage of slick spaces like the Loft Penthouse suite to host cocktail receptions or informal dinners against the backdrop of jaw-dropping New York skyline views. There’s also a heated (and tented) terrace able to host events for up to 100 standing or 70 seated guests year-round, while in summertime, the irresistible Pool Deck serves up a stonking sound system and space for 120 for cocktails. Larger events can take over the new Blue Ribbon restaurant, opening in Spring 2012, with food by the acclaimed Eric and Bruce Bromberg, who already rattle the pans in LES’s sister hotel, 6 Columbus.
