City at Night
Over the past three decades Birmingham has established itself as one of the UK’s leading conference cities, thanks to its excellent facilities and national and international transport links. Its wealth of meeting space ranges from the 200,000sq m NEC down to intimate private dining rooms at Michelin-starred restaurants. Accommodation is never a problem either – there are 28,600 beds (and 23,500 parking spaces). However, it’s not all about the meetings – Birmingham’s night life is famously lively (the city has the UK’s youngest population) with a whole host of bars, restaurants and entertainment options. There’s plenty in the pipeline too: Birmingham’s hotel industry is set for a boost with the opening of five new city centre hotels by summer 2012. The city’s Convention Bureau, Meet Birmingham, was established to help bookers find the right venue and accommodation and finesse arrangements.
