The Cotswolds has seen its fair share of high-profile country house hotel openings recently, though 16th-century Ellenborough Park, set in 100 acres of parkland overlooking Cheltenham Racecourse, is among the finest. A multi-million pound refurbishment to the Grade II-listed property finished early in 2011, bringing with it Nina Campbell interiors and some knockout accommodation. The 62 bedrooms, decorated in a swish but homely style, include four open-plan suites, with one boasting a private dining room for 12. For meetings, a purpose-built boardroom seats 16, while functions are catered for in the De la Bere Court banqueting suite, holding up to 140. The modern fine-dining restaurant and informal brasserie, serving produce from the estate and surrounding farms, are both available for events. Combine large-scale conferencing or race-day hospitality at Cheltenham with an overnight stay or evening entertainment at the hotel.
