You can’t miss the gleaming shell-like exterior of The Sage Gateshead, occupying a prime spot between the Tyne and Millennium bridges on the banks of the river. The concert and conference venue is not only one of the North East’s most admired pieces of architecture, it’s also a world-class venue for conferences and events. The iconic building, designed by Foster & Partners, makes the most of natural light and the views from its glazed concourse. The real highlights, however, are the two concert halls, sound-proofed auditoria with a modern look and feel, world-class acoustics and ‘wired to the world’ technology for broadcasting and web distribution. Smaller rooms of varying sizes play a supporting role and exhibition organisers can take advantage of the 3,500sq m of space on offer.
