Described as a tiny ‘doll’s house’ of a royal residence, Kew Palace has been gracefully restored to how it would have looked when George III and his family lived here. As befits its diminutive size, there are just two areas available for private hire. First is the understated and atmospheric King’s Dining Room (where the Queen celebrated her 80th birthday in 2006), which holds up to 24 dinner guests and looks out onto the Great Lawn and across to the famous Kew Gardens’ Orangery. Drinks receptions for up to 60 standing guests can also be catered for in this space. From April to October, a second space is available. The Queen’s Garden and its adjoining Physic Garden – holding up to 40 – is a beautiful spot for a garden party or alfresco canapé reception. Tours of the palace can be arranged for groups hiring rooms for functions, giving access to areas that are not normally open to the public.
