The Barcelo Old Ship Hotel has recently spent £250,000 on a refurbishment programme. Most of the cash injection has been spent on the Grade II-listed Regency-style Paganini Ballroom (the oldest meeting room in Brighton), which now boasts its own entrance and new curtains, chandeliers and wallpaper.

Dating back to 1559, the Barcelo Old Ship is the oldest hotel in Brighton & stands proudly on the town’s bustling seafront. Past guests here have included Lord Byron, Charles Dickens & Winston Churchill. From its magnificent white facade to the contemporary modern reception area, the 152-bedroom hotel prides itself on delivering excellent customer service in comfortable, relaxed surroundings. A recently completed £250,000 refurbishment programme has seen Brighton’s oldest meeting room, the 300-capacity Grade II-listed Paganini Ballroom, returned to its former Regency splendour. Also rich in period detail, the adjacent Regency room, with its high ceilings & natural daylight, can hold receptions for up to 120 people. Among other evocative spaces at this historic hotel are the wine cellars, with a capacity for 26 people, where smugglers once stashed their booty after raids on the high seas.
