Originally a Carmelite monastery built in 1317, Hitchin Priory has evolved over the centuries from a private home into its current guise as a residential meeting & conference venue. Based in Hertfordshire & part of the well-established Chartridge Conference Company, the imposing building has bags of character, with original features such as arched cloisters & wood-panelled walls still intact. All 17 function rooms benefit from plenty of natural daylight & accommodate up to 90 people, who can also stay overnight, using the priory’s 55 bedrooms. With 19 acres of parkland surrounding the venue, there’s outdoor space for entertaining in a 200-capacity marquee looking out over the River Hiz, or teambuilding for large groups. Other attractions include a traditional restaurant, fitness suite, croquet lawn & a wedding licence for civil ceremonies. Hitchin station – just a mile away – is only half an hour from Kings Cross.
