Royal Armouries Information:
One of Leeds’ largest & most renowned venues, The Royal Armouries Museum was built in 1996 to house the UK’s collection of arms & armour, started originally by Henry XIII. Purpose-built event spaces complement the five exhibit-packed galleries, used for evening entertainment. The largest of the 11 on offer is the modern Royal Armouries Hall with 886sq m of floor space, which can seat 800 for dinner or 1,000 for a reception. Each gallery has a different feel – the Hunting Gallery channels a traditional country estate, complete with an oak-panelled Edwardian Gunroom for 16-person dinners, while the Tournament Gallery houses two colourful jousting pavilions. Mock battles using real weapons and armour can be staged in demonstration areas. The towering Hall of Steel is another stand-out space for VIP receptions. For lectures & presentations, the self-contained 250-seater Bury Theatre is set over two tiers.
