Named after the largest lake in Nepal, Rara Restaurant in South Kensington adopts a calmer approach to chilli than you might have come to expect from Indian/Nepalese restaurants. There’s no ‘spice challenge’ here. Instead, chefs focus on the use of fresh produce and strong flavours. Rara also takes a soft approach to decor, eschewing harsh lighting and bright colours for chic minimalist interiors. Set menus and sharing platters leave plenty of options for group dining in the main restaurant and there’s a 30-seater PDR in the Indian Room downstairs. Pre- or post- dinner drinks for up to 25 can be held in the adjacent lounge. There’s a sister restaurant in Ruislip, while the company’s catering arm creates bespoke menus for off-site weddings, dinners and conferences.
