The Albannach’s Celtic roots make it just the place for a festive knees-up and its position overlooking Trafalgar Square’s Christmas tree only adds to the sense of occasion. Despite the restaurant’s reputation as London’s leading contemporary Scottish eatery, The Albannach shies away from stereotypes. Handsome wood-panelled walls and soft leather benches decorate the 90-cover venue; you won’t find a smidgen of tartan here. The menu features classics such as Loch Duart salmon and lamb cutlets, although haggis, neeps and tatties do feature too. Hold a dinner for 20 in the private dining room or a cocktail reception for 150 in the slightly edgier A Lounge downstairs.
