The original Green’s, tucked away behind the Ritz just off Piccadilly, has been a 30-year labour of love for its owner, former wine merchant Simon Parker Bowles. This unashamedly old-school restaurant, with its leatherbound menus, dark-wood interior, JAK cartoons and classic British menu, is a firm favourite of the St James’s cognoscenti. The private and clubby St James’s Room seats up to 36, while the restaurant can be booked out in its entirety for about 100 guests. Groups rave about the canapés and set menus of British dishes, paired with some fantastic wines. In 2009 a second Green’s opened in a magnificent art deco former Lloyd’s bank in the City.
