Having auctioned off its original red decor on eBay, raising £5,000 for the charity Teens Unite - Fighting Cancer, the Met Bar emerged from extensive refurbishments with a sleek new look in autumn 2011. Burnt orange banquettes and chairs are now arranged around a sleek lava stone bar, with daylight pouring through a new glass wall that etches over for privacy at night. There’s also original artwork by young British designer Giles Miller and – our favourite feature – a new private booth for eight. The members-only policy has been dropped and the all-day British menu is suitably relaxed (look out for the cocktail and chocolate combinations!). The bar takes 150 for an exclusive party.
