Private dining room
Located on the first floor of a corner site with views over Regent Street, Veeraswamy is the perfect antidote to neutral colour schemes and identikit restaurant interiors. The 80-year-old institution (the UK’s oldest Indian) has a wonderfully unrestrained decor. Modelled on the Maharajas’ palaces of the 1920s, it’s full of handmade carpets, chandeliers, candelabras, silk curtains, ebony tables and stunning artefacts. The cuisine draws from across the subcontinent – regional chefs produce their own specialities – with a special emphasis on seafood. An exquisite party room seats up to 24 guests for intimate events in private surrounds. Note that the restaurant’s entrance is on Swallow Street.
