Venue Review of Trinity House

2014 is set to be a big year for this Tower Hill venue, with the resident Corporation of Trinity House (a charity working for the safety, welfare and training of mariners) celebrating its 500th anniversary. The Samuel Wyatt-designed building – itself in existence since 1796 – has five function rooms, offering spectacular views of Trinity Square, the Tower of London, and the Thames. There’s a distinctly nautical feel to the decor, with maritime paintings, ship models and even a bell from the Royal Yacht Britannia taking pride of place in the bright, south-facing venue. Trinity House’s stand-out space is the elegant Court Room, which has a ceiling fresco restored by the Pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt.
