The Drawing Room
Opened in time for the London Olympics in 2012, The Ampersand is an appealing addition to South Kensington’s hotel scene. Colourful interiors strike just the right balance between characterful and cool, with curiosity cabinets inspired by the local museums lining the walls of its two private dining rooms, the Wine Room (seating 10) and the Games Room (seating 16). The same confident style runs through the Library, a function room with capacity for 20 guests for a drinks reception. For more informal group dining, Apero, a style-conscious but laidback Mediterranean restaurant, is tucked into the brick arches of the Victorian cellar, and afternoon tea is served in the Drawing Rooms.
