The legendary Met Bar emerged from extensive refurbishments with a sleek new look in autumn 2011. Burnt orange banquettes and chairs are now arranged around a sleek lava stone bar, with daylight pouring through a new glass wall that etches over for privacy at night. There’s also original artwork by young British designer Giles Miller and – our favourite feature – a private booth for eight. The revamp even extended to the door policy: gone is the notorious ‘members-only’ stipulation. The all-day British menu is suitably relaxed, with a modern take on afternoon tea for daytime meeting and entertaining. The bar takes 150 for an exclusive party and is open until 2am most nights.
