Venue Review of Fortnum & Mason

Grocer to the Queen and most of her predecessors since 1707, the venerable Piccadilly institution houses a quartet of private dining spaces. On the fourth floor, the Drawing Room is light, airy and customisable for all sorts of celebration. Alongside it, the Tasting Room lends itself to lunches, dinners and afternoon teas. At lower-ground level, medieval stoneware and decorative panelling create an intimate atmosphere in the Crypt, which suits wine tastings and sit-down meals. The Boardroom, venue of choice for Fortnum’s own directors for more than a century, is an especially secluded space for lunch or dinner. The main 80-cover Gallery restaurant, where seasonal menus take their lead from the store’s renowned Fresh Food Hall, can also be made over for private events.
