Venue Review of Cinemas at The Barbican

The Barbican houses a trio of well-equipped cinemas that emerged from a significant refurb in 2012. Carefully designed with raked seating and good sightlines, each of them offers air-conditioning, generously proportioned seating and the services of a dedicated technician. The largest, Cinema 1, ‘the most comfortable cinema in London’, is located near the banqueting facilities of the Conservatory & Garden Room. Cinemas 2 and 3, meanwhile, are conveniently situated at street level, with a restaurant and café that can be hired as part of a screening event. As you’d expect, the AV kit is cutting edge and there’s the facility for 35mm and 16mm projection for productions of a certain vintage.
