The former residence of Prime Minister William Gladstone, 10-11 Carlton House is now home to the British Academy. In 2012, the venue, between Admiralty Arch and Buckingham Palace, completed a £3 million refurbishment that has connected the pair of townhouses on each floor. Period features have been enhanced by elegant decoration, while abstract art and upgraded technology bring the spaces up to date. The largest of them is the Wolfson Auditorium, now equipped with data projection, surround sound and Wi-Fi access. A range of smaller rooms suits board meetings or private dining. The grand Entrance Hall, with its beautiful sweeping staircase, holds 200 guests for a reception.
