In the cobblestoned Lanes area of old Brighton, the 49-bedroom Hotel du Vin is but a stone’s throw from the seafront. Occupying an eclectic collection of neo-gothic and mock-Tudor buildings, the hotel’s main event space is the Dome ballroom, which has lots of daylight and a ‘wineglass’ chandelier at its centre. The Ruinart private dining room has its own French doors and adjoins the main Bistro. The low-ceilinged and slate-floored Screwpull Cellar does dinner for up to 14. The ground-floor Scottish Malt Whisky Snuggle has doors onto the courtyard. Next door, the Pub du Vin serves beer by the tankard and traditional British fare.
