A friend and I visited Zucca last week on Tuesday for dinner. There were lots of people despite it being a Tuesday night.
We had ordered two glasses of Prosecco yet waited 20 minutes for them to arrive. In the meantime they had bought some bread and crudités. After gesturing to a waiter and explaining we had waited a long time for the drinks he came back a few minutes later and served them but offered no apology.
Then we waited a further 15 minutes and no one had taken our order. We had to get the attention of another waiter who took our order. For some reason she did not offer the specials, we had to ask for them.
One of the specials was lamb ravioli. My friend asked what else the ravioli was cooked with, she shrugged and said 'it's just lamb'. My friend asked ‘So no herbs or anything?’ She said ‘Ah yes, sage.’ She didn't attempt to make it sound appealing. For an Italian restaurant they didn't show much passion for their food.
I ordered the pea and radish salad and the octopus pasta. We waited a reasonable time for our food.
The food was average to good but certainly didn't make up for the seeming indifference of the staff.
I definitely wouldn't visit again, all I'll remember about Zucca was the clueless, frustrating service.
