The Pig is found nestled in the forest, a beautiful, Georgian house. A lovely, warm atmosphere runs through the whole place, staff are relaxed, dressed in jeans, pink shirts & converse trainers, and they cannot do enough for you.
The menu states that all food is either grown in the gardens or hasn't travelled more than 20 miles. You can don a pair of the hotel's Hunter wellies & go take a look through their kitchen gardens, greenhouses or go and find the pet pigs!
The restaurant is located in a glass, conservatory which is made to resemble a potting shed. Terracotta pots and crates of herbs surround the mixed variety of tables and chairs. The food is exceptional. Small pre dinner nibbles included long, crunchy straws of perfectly baked crackling dipped into sharp, sweet apple purée. The pork chosen for my main was velvety soft & flavoursome, accompanied by creamy crab apple mash with spikes of crunchy, salty bacon.
Fantastic wine list and amazing cocktails. Had the blue gin special served in a Kilner jar topped with popping candy…such fun! Lovely chilled out areas to relax in after dinner with piles of well loved old retro board games. The cherry on the cake was being able to climb the creaking wooden stairs up to our gorgeous comfy room and to dream about the wonderful breakfast that lay ahead…ZZzzzzzz
