My family and I have been wanting to try this resto ever since it opened and finally got the chance last Sunday around 11:30AM…a classic time for brunch. Sadly, even though the place was practically empty, everything look very disorganized with the wait staff scurrying around but not doing what they were supposed to do, ie., bringing menus, serving water or essentially paying any attention to the very few guests. When we did get to order our meal (biscuits and gravy and a pecan waffle) did arrive very quickly, which was encouraging…unitl the first bite – lukewarm sausage gravy over biscuits that were very heavy instead of light and fluffy as I'd expected. It seemed no one thought of actually heating the gravy before pouring on the biscuits! The pecan waffle was very chewy and almost tasteless! On the positive side, the endless cup of filter coffe was very good and my wife's Shrimp and Grits dish was excellent.
As more customers started to arrive, the chaos really became evident: we had to ask several times for water and cream for the coffee; the party of two seated next to us waited for a good 10-15 minutes before a waiter arrived to take their order; other diners were getting up to find the wait-staff so they can get the bill and pay and leave. We were very glad to have arrived early and managed to pay our bill at the register and depart quickly with not too many positives to take away from a dining experience that began with such high expectations!
