I had a lovely lunch at Skylon Grill on Saturday. We had a great table right by the window and could look out over the Southbank and the Thames. The restaurant was fairly quiet but that was nice as gave us a breather from the hustle and bustle of the Southbank on a Sunny Saturday afternoon. The service was very good, friendly and efficient. We ordered sides but actually didn't need them with our meal so it is worth asking the waiter what your dish comes with. I am vegetarian and there was a good selection of vegetarian starters. I had beetroot and goats cheese salad which was delicious. I was a bit disappointed with my main. I ordered pasta with aubergine, courgette and blue cheese. It was cooked very well but I found the charcoal flavour of the vegetables clashed with the strong blue cheese. My husband ordered English ham which was served smoked with rocket and croutons. He then had a roulade of lamb served on mash with runner beans. He said it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The dessert list sounded delicious but we resisted the temptation. When I booked I thought the set menu's were available but apparently not at the weekend. I am planning on booking again for Sunday lunch.
