You don't have to be recording a TV show or watching a film to come here and enjoy the Riverside Studios restaurant. We just popped by for a quick bite at lunchtime and I can recommend the fish and chips (from the bar menu): a lovely lump of the middle part of the fish (no scraggy, greasy tail ends here) in a crisp beery batter; nice enough chips; wonderful summery, fresh, modern interpretation of the usually hideous mushy peas. Not bad for £9.50 which is what takeaway at my old local (the Fish Club) used to cost. The short but reasonably wide ranging wine-by-glass list brings a smile to the face, covering as it does the comically named Stumpy Jack (an Aussie Shiraz) and, mmm, an Argentinian Torrontes. Inside it looks a bit more like it's trying to be formal, but on the terrace it's metal chairs and all about the view. For TV nostalgia buffs, access to the terrace is via a corridor which they used to film TFI Friday along; everyone else, don't let that put you off. Service is swift and friendly. Well located on the Thames path and literally a stone's throw from Hammersmith Bridge I have noted it down as the perfect spot to stop mid bike ride and take on a chilled glass of white or rose on the riverfront terrace before winding a slightly more wobbly path home. If anyone asks, it was just the one glass of course, as technically you can be drunk in charge of a bicycle…
