Visited here on Friday evening. Drinks beforehand on the “Shore” and then a short walk round the back streets of Leith brings you to the restaurant, housed in an old pub. I had read that the service here can be a little stiff. However, we found the service both attentive and friendly, whilst the atmosphere was warm and bouyant – Not at al stuffy. The standard of food was excellent and I would reccomend the tasting menu. Every dish was superbly mastered from the veloute of cauliflower (unbelievably light) through the rich and creamy foie gras terrine and onward to the lamb. We found the dessert a touch disappointing, but that's more a testament to the dishes that have preceded it rather than its outright quality. Wine list is long and varied though to be fair we took the accompanying wine so can't really comment on the list for value for money. Would definitely recommend the Plumed Horse for a dining experience. The food is very much in the classic style so if you're into the Blummenthal genre of cuisine this may not be your “cup of tea”!!
