My assistant booked the restaurant a few weeks prior and was only able to get a seat in the Lounge. After arriving, we realised that whilst it was a fabulous space for the beautiful 30 somethings with live music, it wasn't for a meal to catch up with overseas friends. I made a simple request and we were moved to the front desk and they were generous enough to move us to perhaps one of the best tables in the restaurant. Its not a ploy i would rely on, but it made a potentially difficult evening start off fantastically. We ordered some champagne to start with and being a self confessed foodie, took to the wine list and scoured the menu. Enough will be said about the view in other reviews so i would rather concentrate on the food and drink. There is a high expectation (literally) with the pedigree of the owners and Oblix did not disappoint. The wine list had plenty of choice from new growths to established houses and the prices were in line with the calibre of the restaurant. Our server from Australia, was attentive and knowledgable on the menu. We ordered 3 starters and 2 mains and i would go back for most if it particularly the prawns main and smoked salmon flat bread. We took a gamble on the deserts with the waiters recommendations and again, we were well guided in that the chocolate desert was divine. Lets not kid ourselves, Oblix has been open for a few weeks and there are teething challenges. The food & vibe, however more than make up for it and in a few weeks, they will be running as smoothly as the creamy burrata we so enjoyed. Add the unparalleled views and you can be assured a long wait for a table, so book early.
