I had heard that Meat Mission was a slightly more grown up version of Meat Liquor and on a hangover day in Shoreditch I thought it'd be a perfect spot to compare burgers. As this is supposedly their speciality.
Surprisingly, whilst there was already a fair queue round the corner at the Breakfast Club, Meat Mission was somewhat empty. Maybe the fact that the space is large and the ceiling so high means that it never feels too busy ? First difference with the other Meat places, one can book a table. Second difference, they actually come to the table to take your order and thirdly, there is enough light to read the menu (results !).
So the burgers had clever names, they had hard shakes and something called the roast beef garbage plate (which did sound tasty but very messy). Obviously the burgers didn't come with fries so we ordered them on the side.
I had a dead hippie. It was in between fine and adequate. I can see how this slightly over salted burger with two beef patties would go down with a smile late in the evening together with too many beers but at around noon, with a ginger beer, it was just ok. A bit soft actually, quite soggy half way through (some people like it that way), I like my burgers better when I feel there is something (not too mushy) to bite into. I like textures. My mistake, probably, for not ordering the bacon burger which may have insured some crispiness.
So as a whole, I'd go back with mates, before/during/after a night out. I probably won't venture during the day.
Ps : When we visited, they didn't serve coffee but helpfully, they had kitchen rolls on the tables.
