Why is there a burly bouncer on the door at Layla's in leafy genteel Wimbledon village? Maybe it's to keep anyone with an ounce of sense or a decent palate out of this “restaurant”.
The Lebanese food was underwhelming and the service was so poor to be practically non existent. It took three hours to get a main meal. We weren't offered a desert menu and eventually in a desperate attempt to escape the place we walked up to the very chilled out maitre'd and asked to pay! Having never had to leave a table and track down a member of staff to pay a bill we were quite surprised by the maitre'd/managers complete lack of interest in our awful experience
A buxom belly dancer proves entertainment although she mainly managed to flick her waist length hair in my dinner companions food.
The music was so loud that we were barely able hear each other talk.
It is neither a decent restaurant nor bar.
It seemed busy but maybe that's because no where else in Wimbledon is quite like it. Sure,y it won't be busy for long?
Avoid at all costs
