Having been to this restaurant four times now (all business related 3 x lunches, 1 x dinner) I thought it was time for a review.
I really want to be able to heap praise on this venue. The premises, layout and decor are really nice and the big banking hall space works really well. The welcome and service is perfectly fine.
Then comes the major disappointment-the inconsistent cooking.
Starters: I have always shared a meat or fish antipasti platter and they are OK. Well presented with good ingredients, the meat version is better in my opinion. The fish platter promises much-great looking beetroot cured salmon-but tastes bland.
Pasta: Freshly made on the premises but every time we have been it is over cooked! A disaster! Avoid the Scallops with black ink pasta if you like scallops. They are not served whole but sliced to go further –this is a real mistake and spoils the dish. Fish: Frito Misto was overcooked and over seasoned. Poor.
Meat: lamb and steak nicely cooked as was the Osso Bucco but only average at best.
So I guess this Jamie’s chain is just that –a run of the mill chain of themed restaurants. Bland.
