Going to the inSpiral lounge was an experience. I've always assumed that vegan/organic/raw food is only for a very niche market. To be honest, I never considered the idea that I'd actually LIKE it?? But lo and behold, I did. I was there for a lunch and the lunchtime “rush” has never been a more apt description. It got manically busy and it did begin to feel very cramped. Whilst the space is clean, light and rustic, it's also very small and theres' not a lot of room to manouvere when it's super busy. Luckily, it did calm down and and won back some more elbow room. I supposed you could call it “cosy”.
Having said that, I very much enjoyed my first experience of vegan food. I had a pick-and-mix plate which is a great way to try and variety of different things. I even tried a slice of their raw cake! I'd never considered trying anything like that before, but I was surprised at just how nice it was. It was a little cold for the vegan ice-cream but I will definitely keep it in mind for the warmer weather!
It had a really nice atmosphere, despite the limited space. It felt like going into your local pub where everyone knows you, even though it was the first time I'd ever been. I didnt't feel out of place, despite being a meat eater. They also have a bar and live music in the evening, which could be fun to go for.
My only other qualm, despite the small-ness, is that the service was a LITTLE slow. But the staff were nice enough and seemed happy to be there, which is a rarity in cafes, I've found. All in all, I'll probably come back and bring some friends!
