I was curious so I booked it four months ago. I was excited for weeks before yesterday's dinner. We opted for the tasting menu at £60/ person – what a disappointment! out of the seven dishes that were served I like two! Michelin star or not, I do not wish to eat mash and gravy that mostly tastes butter!.
I anticipated the disappointment when the first dish came out – a quarter of an avocado with burnt pistachio in broth that tasted more like chicken stock. It doesn't get more exciting than this; the next dish (celeriac and haddock) was ok but lacked flavour. It was a weird combination. Deserts were a disappointment too, especially the rhubarb one that was drenched in sugar. Small green peaches hat are served at the end of the dinner tasted like something out of a can. Oh dear…
If you like your food to taste something then I assure you, you will not find it here. Bland and weirdly combined. This is a restaurant that is more of a disappointment than experience. We were a party of 5 and we were all very, very disappointed! What a waste of money!
