I visited the famous coq d'argent last weekend with my boyfriend and have to say, it ticks all the boxes for a romantic summer dinner. The roof gardens had an amazing view of the city and were accompanied by a list of inventive cocktails. The whole place oozes finess with smartly dressed waiters standing straight, nicely pruned hedges, candle lit tables and just a small and acceptable amount of snootiness to the place.
After drinks we went through for dinner and decided to chose from the set menu which turned out to be brilliant value. The starter, shredded pork and watermelon, wasn't a marriage made in heaven but the pork itself was very tasty and cooked well. My main was the confit duck which was delicious. We shared a cheese plate and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake for dessert which topped off the whole dinner.
The wine list cannot be overlooked at this place, they have something for all tastes, nationalities and budgets. We were served by two different sommiliers, one which poured the wine so slowly that I thought they were trying to delay time to go out and kill my duck in person before cooking it and the other chucked the wine in so heavily that it splashed everywhere although I was having such a nice time it made me chuckle rather than annoyed me.
Definitely give this one a try
