So the menu here looks potentially interesting and tasty – but we cannot comment on its quality.
I made a reservation a week ago for a table at 8.15pm. We were asked to wait at the bar as our table was not ready which is fine, we were in no great hurry and tend to be relaxed about this sort of thing.
However the 2 barmen have received zero training it would appear as they served only those people right in front of their noses or pretty girls in their vicinity. This meant we waited 20mins before I blew up as yet another couple of girls who had just arrived were served before us. So finally we got some drinks.
After yet another interminable wait – and having observed a multitude of empty tables, I went to find out why we had been waiting – by now – 50mins for a table. One of the hostesses to be fair looked shocked and said she would investigate – she never came back to me.
Eventually – another 10mins later we are finally seated… At one of the tables which had been free the whole time we had been there. Then begins another 15min wait where we get no menus and no service.
I spot the owner and politely ask him over and describe our experience in his restaurant to date. He apologises and within a couple of minutes a waitress appears with some menus for us.
Following her within seconds is the surly floor manager who introduces us to our waiter for the evening and asks if we are reach to order. When I say no, he challenges me as he had heard we had complained of waiting a long time. I point out that we had waited a long time to be seated and given menus… Which we had only just received
Inevitably not being able to order immediately without looking through the menu proved to be fatal as after another 20mins of waiting for our drinks order and for a waiter to come take our food order – we gave up and went to the lovely little tapas place up the road instead!
It doesnt matter how good the food may be- if a restaurant's staff cannot rise above indifference for its clientele and at times just plain rudeness and incompetence, then it deserves to fail
Oh and we were not an isolated case – the tables either side of us were both complaining g about unsteady service with the French couple next to us particularly miffed as she had finished eating while he was still waiting for his main…
