Having chanced upon Brasserie Zedel relatively recently, and realised this is the revamping of the Atlantic Bar and Grill site into an elaborate Brasserie, I imagine its not a surprise to admit that I have been a few times to this new venue already. There is apart from the main Brasserie which dominates this underground gem, also a “Bar Americain” as well as a medium sized theatre which hosts short cabaret shows on certain evenings.
BZ delivers well and is reasonably priced and though food is typical brasserie or even bistro in style, it serves its purpose well given we are in the midst of one of the deepest recessions. There is an impressive but light hearted buzz in the main hall which even has a elevated platform with an unplayed grand piano at one side whilst there is a long bar the other, both side pieces to what is probably a 300 cover or so, light filled art deco interior.
Most are delighted enough with the set up of the whole venue and whilst tables are already at a premium in terms of booking availability, BZ usually keeps a sufficient number which are solely for “drop-ins” as it were, though with a waiting time probably bordering on 40 minutes.
One to try for sure, and still have enough spare change in case you need to cab it home.
