Beagle looks the part, a very smartly put together restaurant and bar.
Out of three of the staff we met only one was happy and smiley. The barman was surly, the other waitress was really rather aloof.
The menu reads very well, nothing wildly original but good. The octopus starter was nicely charred, with tomatoes and coriander sauce. The quail with harissa was just that. A bit of embellishment would have been nice. Some greenery maybe.
My main course was disappointing. The lamb was great but the braised artichokes & broad beans was more like a ratatouille. I imagined a spritely green side, summery and fresh. It was wintery, with tomatoes and really like a fridge leftovers type stew. Also suspiciously similar to the borlotti bean dish my friend had. It wasn't very elegant or careful. The pudding list was M.O.R . All the usual suspects.
