Having read most of the reviews for this restaurant I nearly cancelled but I can’t tell you how glad I am that I stuck with it. A warm welcome on arrival and shown to our seats with a prime view of the spectacular St Pauls Cathedral started the night off in style. The decor is slick and modern and the open kitchen sends subtle but delicious scents of meaty treats around the room.
We started off with the scallop and salmon ceviche which had the most refreshing and zesty flavours of South America and also the half rack of ribs. I didn’t really think ribs could be any better from one place to the next as long as they are tender enough but the flavour of the marinade was to die for. It was technically my boyfriend’s starter but I couldn’t resist sneaking my fork over to his plate for more than a couple of mouthfuls.
I had my eye on the short ribs as soon as I clocked it on the menu and I was not disappointed at all. An exquisitely smoky, rich flavour with the melt in your mouth texture and I was in my bliss. The champ that came with it was another star of the show. Beautiful and buttery mash potato and delightfully flavoured greens, brought together with the short ribs made for one heavenly bite. In true man style my boyfriend proudly ordered the T-bone with peppercorn sauce. Although the steak had such an intense and sensational flavour it didn’t actually need any sauce at all. With all the sides we ordered to go with it I was extremely gratified in my meat coma by the end of the meal.
To wash the meal down we ordered a bottle of the Rioja which went perfectly and ended the night with 2 big smokeys. Yes, I admit, all this joy didn’t come cheap, but when you enjoy yourself that much who really cares.
