About

There’s nothing quite like a good local curry house, and Zaika in Stonehouse village offers the perfect place for both locals and out-of-towners alike to unwind over a feast of Indian and Bangladeshi dishes.

With a cosy dining room, eating here will see you seated at tables covered in classic white and burgundy cloths, with high backed chairs and feature lighting above. The art on the walls of various spices hints at the team’s passion for using carefully sourced ingredients.

The differentiating factor of Bangladeshi cuisine is the use of distinct aromatic spices like fennel, fenugreek, nigella seeds and cumin. There’s also a lot of onion used, and the basis of most meals is lentils or rice. Specials at Zaika include a beef di kudu which is a traditional Bangladeshi curry that combines rich meat with sweet butternut squash. For those who aren’t scared of a bit of heat, the naga chicken is made with the region’s famous naga chillies.

Those looking for their favourite shout won’t be disappointed either, with plenty of tried and tested classics on the menu too. There’s chicken tikka from the tandoor oven as well as special biryanis, baltis and bhunas. Plant based eaters equally served well, with a whole vegan section dedicated to meat-free dishes like vegetable shatkora: a tofu dish made with citrus fruit and traditional spices. If you’re bringing the kids along, there is also a short run of dishes like chicken nuggets and chips for fussy eaters.

Zaika offers both eat-in and takeout options, so if you can’t bag yourself a table – or fancy a night on the sofa – simply download their menu online and order by giving them a call. There are often special offers on for larger orders too, which proves the perfect excuse to get a group of friends together for an evening in.
