The White Hart

As anarchic, as loveable & as irreplaceable as they come, there is nothing like The White Hart. It’s the only pub in the village of Otley (in the wilderness of the Suffolk Heights), & has quickly found a loyal following. The board out front might say ‘we have crabs’, the knitting circle might be meeting, the kids playing battleships under the table in the family corner, or the piano getting an impromptu tinkling. The food is tempting: prawn cocktail, say, or spicy spare ribs in barbecue sauce. If you’re after something more substantial, dishes such as wild boar steaks in honey & mustard glaze, or mutton tagine are likely to hit the spot. The menu footnote aptly covers it – love, peace & go naked – & we don’t think they would blink an eye if you did.
