The Crown Inn

Warm & welcoming with big fireplaces, snugs, & all the history a 17th-century building imparts, The Crown Inn is exactly what a village pub should be. But what really stands out is the pubs close ties to local producers & businesses, with Alde Valley lamb from the Great Glemham estate parkland over the road, or partridge from nearby shoots typical of the produce used in the kitchen. The lamb often goes with apple into sausages, served on creamy mash, while the game bird might come with apricot & herb stuffing, savoy cabbage & bacon. Vegetarians could be tucking into roast beef tomato stuffed with pepper & pea polenta & fish options might include grilled haddock fillet with wholegrain mustard mash, fine beans & poached egg. Draught ales are the county’s best, perhaps Adnams Southwold bitter, Earl Soham mild or Greene King Abbot. Even the cider by Aspall is Suffolk made.
