Lovingly restored with its Georgian & Victorian features intact, this pretty looking gastropub boasts a modern European menu marked by ethically sourced quality ingredients. A handsomely rendered, chunky pressed ham hock terrine with homemade piccalilli hit all the right notes, while a roast red onion tart with goats' cheese mousse & rocket wass equally diverting. Mains such as salmon & parsley fishcakes with beurre blanc, & a hearty, old-fashioned dish of spring lamb broth are both ideal winter warmers.
