Sleek & spotless from top to toe, this plucky new restaurant with rooms has brought a refreshingly modern, sophisticated yet relaxed dining experience to Gower. Its interior combines clean-lined modernity with natural materials that suit the beautiful valley setting. New it may be, but front-of-house already have the assurance of accomplished old hands, & while the kitchen is still finding its voice, early signs are very promising. Even if the occasional dish is slightly ill-conceived, ingredients are well-sourced, everything is homemade & flavours are thoughtfully combined, making for an enjoyable overall experience. Typical starters include ravioli of local crab & laverbread with fondue of fennel & cockles, followed by main courses ranging from assiette of fish with warm ‘Nicoise’ salsa, aioli, olives & poached egg through to fillet of Welsh black beef with bearnaise sauce, wild mushrooms, Puy lentils & bacon jus. Desserts include favourites such as hot chocolate fondant or bread & butter pudding & there’s a decent wine list, too.
