The Plough is a smartly converted Buckinghamshire pub serving up inspired food. Meals could start with seared scallops accompanied by pork scratchings, celeriac, truffle & garlic confit, ahead of leg & breast of duck served with orange & vanilla caramel, tarragon pomme purée & carrot. To conclude, raspberry bavarois with lemon confit & basil is a good call. The set lunch menu (£20/25 for two/three courses) could run from French onion soup with Beaufort cheese beignet & croûtons, via slow-cooked lamb rump & braised shoulder with potato, onion & celeriac, to mango soufflé with coconut & tarragon sorbet.
