Set between Brighton’s piers in a restored Victorian archway with great sea views from the terrace, Due South is strongly committed to local & seasonal produce, has a wine list that offers a decent selection of English, organic & biodynamic wines, & the service is impeccable. Oysters by the dozen are a house speciality at lunch, though there are also lighter dishes such as char-grilled squid salad, or a more substantial homemade burger with straw chips. But it’s the evening menu that shows the accomplished cooking at its very best with a typical meal taking in roasted brown crab claws with chilli served ahead of saddle of wild rabbit stuffed with black pudding & wrapped in bacon & sage, with a rich, organic chocolate mousse for dessert.
