Square Meal Review of Seasons.Casamia ?

A real family-run restaurant, this well-established Italian has been churning out classic dishes since opening in 1998, but with the ‘boys’ now in charge of the pots & pans, the cooking has taken a more ambitious turn. These days, visitors can expect an appealing menu of modern Italian & British food that pays close attention to the seasons as well as top-quality local & regional produce. Classy first courses might include beetroot with barley, iced yoghurt & pickled fennel, while on-trend innovation is the hallmark of mains such as a trio of roast pork fillet, belly & cheek with pistachios, smoked chocolate, parsnip & ras el hanout or sea bass with chicken wings & carrots in various different forms. Desserts also keep it upbeat with the likes of a deconstructed tiramisu or tarragon ice cream with strawberry sauce.

    Samphire and Salsify :: Casamia, Bristol

    I was super excited to be visiting Casamia for lunch – even the two and a half hour drive from London to Bristol didn’t even deter me. It’s owned and run by Bristolian brothers Jonray and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias whose food I’ve eaten before at The Cube pop-up on the Southbank – and loved. The restaurant used to be owned by their parents who ran the place as a traditional Italian trattoria but now the dining room has been transformed into a modern, bright and airy space with an open plan kitchen. We were seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen, meaning we got to watch all the action unfold...

    vialaporte :: Casamia* // Bristol // England

    Remember the winners of the Gordon Ramsay best UK local restaurant back in 2009? Another fabulous set of West Country brothers, cooking sous-vide Italian fine dining. If you are heading past Bristol, stop in for lunch or dinner and you’ll be transported to Italy for couple of hours. When you arrive, you’ll walk down a charming outdoor passage, which opens-up to the restaurant. At the end, a high quality welcome is on offer, with the maître’d welcoming you with a warm and generous smile...
