From the couple behind Marylebone’s much-loved Caldesi & Caffè Caldesi, this out-of-town venture may have a plush & modern look but its culinary heart is in rustic Italy. The antipasti selection is reminiscent of Tuscan holidays (cold cuts with grilled & marinated vegetables, flash-grilled carpaccio of beef, & slow-cooked calamari), while mains might feature slow-cooked wild boar (marinated overnight in red wine & served with black olives on soft polenta). However, the real showstopper is often an intermediate pasta dish – perhaps lasagne with pork sausage & fennel seed ragù. Sicilian lemon cheesecake with ricotta & comfit orange zest makes a fine finish. Affable service & a lovingly sourced all-Italian wine list, too.
