This breezy cafe-style operation is housed in a stunning building slap bang on East Beach & the owners, mother & daughter team Jane & Sophie Wood, have done a good job at tapping into what the Littlehampton market wants because the place is rarely less than buzzing. It’s open for coffee & snacks every day, but investigate the menu further & there are more adventurous lunch & dinner dishes to be found. Classics such as potted shrimp & beer-battered fish of the day are present & correct, while more ambitious plates include spaghetti with steamed cockles, roast lamb with bubble & squeak or salt & pepper squid, with sundaes, trifles & chocolate mousse to round things off. Further boons are a sensible children’s menu, weekend breakfasts served until 11.30am, a user-friendly wine list & a great decked area for fair weather alfresco.
