Perkins is not the kind of place that you just stumble upon. Tucked away in the depths of the Nottinghamshire countryside in a charmingly converted Victorian railway station, this family owned restaurant is popular not just with locals but also with diners who come from far & wide. The menu mixes retro comfort classics – sirloin steak with Dijon mustard and thyme cream sauce or slow-briased belly of pork with black pudding mash and caramelised apple and Calvados cream – with lighter, Med-inspired dishes such as hake with hummous and watercress sauce, & Mediterranean vegetable tart tatin with feta cheese salad. Their smokehouse in the grounds produces fine fine smoked salmon,& the personal touch is everything here, with daily specials chalked up in the bar, an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients & spot-on service.
