Khushi’s

Khushi’s is Edinburgh’s first Indian restaurant, having begun life in 1947. Since then it has moved to various different premises, & finally settled in Victoria Street in 2006. The site is a lot more palatial that its previous incarnations, with marble stairs & a lavishly decorated dining room, but happily the great food remains much the same. The menu offers old-school curry house-style dishes, all done very well. A simple starter of fish pakora is great – fresh white fish coated in crisp batter – while tandoori king prawn is both flavoursome & generous. The house signature dish of lamb bhuna is a must try & a creamy dhal makhani is a top choice among vegetarian options. Service is speedy & there’s no drinks license, but you can BYO.
